2025 Toyota Turbo Trail Cruiser Concept

Set to be shown off at SEMA 2025, Toyota have fitted a modern twin turbo V6 into a classic Land Cruiser FJ6. The engine is the current 3.4L V6 unit found in the Toyota Tundra specced to generate 389 hp and 479 lb-ft. All up, Toyota have nearly doubled the power output of the original inline-six of the 60-series Land Cruiser. In an interesting choice, the original five-speed manual transmission has been kept thanks to an adapter plate which mounts the new engine to the old gearbox.

Other changes include a 1.5-inch lift with front shackle reversal, so the leaf springs now connect to the frame altering the suspensions behaviour. Other than that, big 35-inch tires have been fitted and not much else. Toyota chose not to mess with the original styling keeping both the exterior and interior looking they did in the 1980’s.
