2026 Mercedes AMG F1 W17 E Performance

Last time F1 introduced new engine regulations, Mercedes-AMG aced it from the start. Can they do it again for 2026? With a record of eight consecutive constructors’ championships over the course of the previous power unit era, Merc certainly enjoyed plenty of success with their turbo V6 hybrid engines. For 2026 the formula stays roughly the same, in that the engines are still 1.6L in capacity, with a single turbocharger and accompanied by a hybrid system. The main change comes in the form of that hybrid, with the new regulations simplifying the setup and allowing much more of the total system output to be handled by the electric power.
