2025 Porsche 963 RSP

Road-going Le Mans Hypercar? Porsche says why not! This is the Porsche 963 RSP. Built to celebrate 50 years since the Porsche 917 got a road version in 1975, that original model was the inspiration for this 963 RSP project. What this is, is essentially a full-blown WEC hypercar that has been modified to make it more liveable on the road. Although getting it on the road isn’t as easy as you might think.

Due to the questionable legality of the 963 RSP, it requires special permission from local authorities to actually drive on public roads. This may vary of course from country to country, but it’s not a properly homologated street car, it’s a race car with a few quality of life changes. These changes include boring things like lights, indicators and interior fittings, but at least the powertrain has remained interesting.

Yep, the race-spec hybrid V8 has survived the modification process, it’s able to run on pump fuel and has been remapped for smoother running at low speeds. The full hybrid system is still present complete with MGU that recuperates energy under braking at the rear axle.
